General Rules:
1) The competition is open to all UTP students regardless of age, nationality, or country of residence.
2) Entries must be absolutely original. Any form of plagiarism will result in immediate disqualification.
3) Every participant can send in more than one entry per category, and can submit in multiple categories. Entries submitted on behalf of anyone else, e.g posthumously, will not be eligible.
4) Entries should avoid sensitive issues such as religion, racism and politics.
5) Entries those are lewd, obscene, pornographic, disparaging or otherwise contain objectionable material may be disqualified.
6) The theme of this edition of “The Chronicler” is Love.
7) Submissions will be opened on the 27th September 2010, and closed on the 24th October 2010.
Submission Guidelines:
1) All contestants have to follow these procedures:
- Page 1: Name, ID No, Course, Category, Title of Work
- Page 2: Masterpiece
2) All entries have to be saved in Microsoft Word 2003 Format and submitted in such manner:
- Short story: ss_(title)
- Poem: po_(title)
- Comics: co_(title)
- Blog: bl_(title)
3) All entries must be submitted via e-mail to utpthechronicler@gmail.com before the deadline (24th October 2010).
4) We will not entertain any arguments or negative feedback from contestants about the result of the competition.
5) Any participants who fail to comply with these rules will be disqualified. You have been warned!
Short Stories
Word limit is 1500 words.
Entries must be in English. Double-spaced. Font Size (10 – 12), and Font Type Arial or Times New Roman. Please state your word count at the end of the writing in bracket.
Poem
A maximum of 2 pages.
Entries must be in English. Double-spaced. Font Size (10 – 12), and Font Type Arial or Times New Roman.
Comics
Must not be more than 3 strips.
Comics can be hand-drawn or computer generated. For hand-drawn, please scan or photograph the comic for submission through e-mail.
Blog
Submit the URL web link to your blog.
In the submitted blog entry, please include your full name as identification purpose.
We accept entries for either existing blogs previously created by the contestants themselves or new blogs alike.
Blog entries will be judged based on the following equally weighted criteria: novelty, creativity and originality of the blog entry, the blog’s interest and appeal to other users, and clarity in the expression about the user’s experience.
Participants can decide not to include any confidential information or details that may be inappropriate to share with the general public.
Participants agree that personal data, especially name and address, may be processed, stored and otherwise used for the purposes and within the context of the contest and any other purposes outlined in these rules.
